About Us
The Pilates Studio was established over ten years ago by sisters Lynne and Judith Cavanagh. We specialise in Body Control Pilates, an approach which encourages an understanding of the basic techniques before moving on to the advanced exercises. Our main focus is on the Pilates principle of encouraging natural movement – a real cornerstone in helping to avoid injury and maintaining fitness. We do this through small group classes (maximum of 12) and One to One sessions so that we can make subtle but vital corrections to individual movements.
Our team of seven qualified teachers are all trained by and are members of the Body Control Pilates Association, the largest Pilates organization in Europe. With mixed backgrounds, including physiotherapy, sport and dance, these teachers are passionate devotees of the method and must adhere to stringent training programmes and continuous professional development to retain membership of the Body Control Pilates Association.
In addition, we have an enthusiastic, happy Reception team who themselves practice Pilates and are therefore able, with first hand experience, to offer advice and information.
Our work varies tremendously from day to day. Our clients come to keep fit, enhance sport performance (e.g. tennis, swimming, golf) or recover from injury.
