Pilates for sport

At the heart of the Pilates method lies the goal of efficient and effortless movement - a goal particularly sought after in the sports arena.

Pilates strengthens core muscles, promotes length, increases flexibility and aims to develop a uniformly conditioned body.  At the Pilates Studio, we use specific Pilates exercises to encourage a strong mind body connection so that both the body and mind become more confident and controlled in athletic performance.

Those involved in sport at any level will also know the importance of injury prevention.  By supplementing existing training progammes with Pilates exercises, a more balanced body is achieved, thus avoiding the dominance and tension in muscles that can lead to injury.

By using gentle, safe and hugely effective exercises to encourage better posture, stability and correct movement, Pilates is also very successful in aiding rehabilitation from existing injury and our expert Pilates teachers can adapt exercises to specific sports needs as well as choose the appropriate level of challenge for each client.
