Ginny Hind (Dentist)

I have been going to The Pilates Studio for the last four years. Pilates has been fantastic for my posture and upper back and neck stiffness generated by spending years crouching over patients. I find myself much more aware of my back at work and by working on my core strength (which is vastly improved by Pilates), much less tired by the end of a day seeing patients.

Ross Freeman (Technical Manager)

When asked about Pilates, I am reminded of the quote from Pat Cash, tennis player, It's a bit girly but it works. It works in the way that the exercises pick out very specific muscle groups, which then translates readily into my other diverse interests including rock climbing and Argentinean tango (and presumably to tennis also). Just being shown exercises is ok but at The Pilates Studio I believe you get more than that. The instruction at the Studio, who follow the standard of the Body Control programme, is at a much higher level with additional in depth knowledge and experience. It's a good crack too!

Dr Richard Pilkington

Body Control Pilates rehabilitated my back from years of poor posture. Dentistry is a high risk occupation with regard to back injury. Body Control Pilates has been an integral part of the postgraduate dental course, 'Happy Backs for the Dental Team' , which I started five years ago and which is now taught nationally. The instruction from Lynne and her colleagues at the Pilates studio has been a life changing experience of getting my body working again after years of overuse and misuse. The exercises have become an integral part of my lifestyle enabling me to continue with my career in the profession and enjoy sports I had once to avoid. It would be fair to say that they have given me back the quality of life I was unable to lead due to chronic back pain. A must for anyone who wants to be fit and healthy.

Mel Flinders (Dental Hygenist)

I first discovered Pilates in March 2002 when a friend, seeing how much back pain I was suffering from, urged me to find a Pilates instructor. The pain had been caused by whiplash injuries from a car accident and a slipped disc and had become the sole focus of my life. From the beginning Lynne was extremely patient and kind and within one month of beginning Pilates, my condition started to improve.  Pilates has become a way of life for me and I practice daily.  My work as a dental hygienist involves many hours of sitting and bending but with my new knowledge I now know how to undo the tension underlying the pain. I would urge anyone suffering from any kind of pain to try Pilates (with a well qualified instructor) and learn how to develop a greater understanding of their own body.
